Temporary layout up for now. I've been so busy, and depressed to actually do anything good. But I joined a little contest at my workplace called Walktober in which I was supposed to walk and then take some pictures. The prize is only $25 gift card to the mall but oh well, it might be a good enough motivator for me to get my ass out there and take some pictures at last. Most important thing is... I had fun, it was really refreshing to take pictures of nature, especially of beautiful Fall with no people as model, not that I don't like models, but it's just so different and I like it :). These are only a portion of what I have to turn in, but more will come in at some later time 'cause it's freaking 4:30 AM now and I've gotta go to work at 6:30 AM, been up working on my Graphic Design class and then fixing these images right after I got off my other job at 12 PM, haha... Life is Good, yeah... Sorry, I'm just so bitter after being so depressed lately, it will go away soon. Enjoy!

The result of the prints was heart-breaking, they came out too dark as compared to the original drawing on the stone =____=;

Very disappointed but that is just what happens when you rush.

Hopefully the next time I print it'd be all better :D.

I decided to do something with more fantasy elements, but my first attempt was not short on frustration. The ideas weren't quite thought out, the location I chose was just too tiny to do any sort of landscape pictures, without having a piece of wall or a electric plug somewhere in sight. I took the same kind of composition one after another, and my friend was frustrated for not being able to produce the kind of pictures she wanted to, but having to listen to my requests on and on. In short, both my model and I were disappointed and frustrated as neither one was able to do the sort of pictures we had in mind initially. The shoot ended early in silence *sighs*... but it was a great lesson for me, as a photographer, it'd be nice if my ideas are more concrete, and it's very important to establish a comfortable environment before shooting any serious photos, otherwise, both the photographer and the model will be reading one another's thinking and become so self-conscious... At least, we tried. This is the first, and there will be many more to come. This is one area I hope to explore more. Lots of thanks to be' Huong for putting up with me for almost two hours, in a tiny white room with no windows, and a grouchy and demanding photographer. And thanks to her for pointing out that I've been making the same kind of composition over and over, to be honest, it kinda hurts, but it's the truth... I've got so much more to learn.

I was out and about on labor day, and took the camera with me for some quick snaps. This was a spur-of-the-moment sort of photo shoot, therefore there was very little preparation, though I guess we were lucky to arrive at Haymarket just in time for some gorgeous lights.

After suffering from depression, she has gradually gotten out of it, and transformed into a person I totally want to become in the future: kind, loving, patient, optimistic, and spontaneous. Looking at her perspective, life is just so much fun and serene. I really have learned a lot from her. I'm thankful for having her as my mum.

I was out taking pictures in a park in Omaha and this little kid kept on running to me and laughing, posing in front of my camera. She was so adorably eager to have her pictures taken, while at the same time was sort of afraid her dad wouldn't approve of it. She ran in and out of my focus hence the blur. Her giggles could still be heard a long while after. It's these little instances that I hope I will be braver to embrace the streets and the ordinary lives of people around town.

I took some pictures for a friend after a wedding today :). It was about 8pm, and I boosted up the ISO again to prevent camera shake. Her red dress really stood out and I just thought it's so pretty. I got more pictures but will upload them later. My favorite? Easily the first picture up there. Glad I tried that angle on her, because she sure looked gorgeous there.

And uhm, please don't mind the title. Apparently I can't name to save my life. Oh well...

Yes, it's a Wedding Menu for a friend's wedding this coming Saturday :D.

It's random, very random... I have been busy, but I still wanted to post something. I was doing so fine of posting regularly, one post every 2 to 3 days, and I don't want to lose that momentum now that I had somewhat built the habit.

And my camera lens arrived!!!! I did a few testing shots, and they came out soo sooo beautifully, ways better than my kit lens (duh, haha)... the colors are rich and much more saturated, the quality of the bokeh is to die for, it's fast and takes very gorgeous shots in door with not much lightings. Woah, I'm super excited to be out and about testing this new lens in the future. Just ordered a lens hood, and when I rake in some more money, will be purchasing some filters as well :).

Please pardon the bad quality. I don't have a tripod, and to avoid holding on to my camera for too long which could make the photos blurry, I had to push up the ISO which resulted in very grainy pictures. Either way, I lose, lol XD. These were taken during the heavy rain/storm at around 9pm tonight. The quality of light during that downpour was fantastic, oh my, that golden light, it's to die for! Too bad I couldn't capture it well...

JS Monzani was a nice discovery. I actually had seen his great photographs on DeviantArt some time last year, but I didn't think too much about them. Back then, viewing artworks was a simple pleasure, one that I didn't truly take much commitment to explore certain artists like I do now. And by some twist of fate (thanks to the inter-connectedness of the Internet) I rediscovered him again, this time through his videos on Vimeo (watch the videos in his channel here). Apparently the guy just started creating short artistic movies and already his name is being known around. What so inspiring is that he first and foremost is a photographer, and like I mentioned earlier, his photos are great sources of inspirations for me, as I'm learning to love photography more and more everyday. Here is his portfolio website, where you can view most of his best works: JSMonzani and another one Simple Moment that houses all of his works so far. What I like about his photographs that they are truly creative, in the best photography sense possible. They are all very clean, sharp, professional-looking with fantastic colors and composition. I actually do aspire to be able to take pictures like his one day, with my own style obviously...

In front of me...

I'm really happy right now because I finally was able to afford a new lens :D!! As my love for photography increases, it's about time to move on and get serious. My kit lens is acceptable, occasionally it makes good enough photos (like the one above of my dad, I actually was very please with how the final result came out), but apparently, there're certain things I just can't do with a kit lens. And yes, this time I got myself a lovely Canon EF 50mm f1.4 standard lens. Yes, it's the baby I talked about wanting to acquire last summer, and now my dream came true, I'm sooo happy. I just purchased it this afternoon after weeks of contemplating over whether I should be spending money on a new lens or not. Consider it my new and only walk-around lens, wooohooo!!! I can't wait to be taking more pictures!!!!

I'm bringing this back :). The last post on inspiration was way back in December of 2008.

And the author of the day is Wenqing Yan from DeviantArt (again!)! The highlights? Her fantastic interactive full-colored flash comics. The one-shot that managed to convert me into a watcher of her work is 1000 Words. Simple, touching, and full of heart, 1000 words is a feast both visually and emotionally.

Basically, it does the job (all my photos were taken with the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Canon Rebel Xti body) but now that I'm getting a little more serious with photography, this lens is truly limited, albeit I'm not that knowledgeable myself, but I'm soooo wanting a different lens, but I'm so broke T^T; Sorry I need to get that out of my system before going back to continue exploring with the kit lens *sighs*... CHÊNH VÊNH describes the situation that I've been feeling a lot lately concerning my emotional state, more specifically regarding my working hours. One week I look at a schedule of 20+ hours, the next week back to working 10 hours.
But that in itself is a blessing, as I find myself plenty of time to emerge into photography and graphic designs.
That feeling of tottering carried into the upcoming series I will be introducing. Inspired by a friend's photographs, I decided to experiment with the new technique of tilting the camera, putting the model on a diagonal axis. Immediately, the photos seem to be less static and snapshot-like, at the same time, that technique fits perfectly with the theme of tottering as I was talking about earlier.
This series was the beginning of my exploration of composition, of lines, colors and textures, and of how to use those basic elements to create an interesting mood for the photographs. I used to think that I need to be at an inspiring locale or have an excellent model to capture beautiful pictures, but now I realized that "...the subject of a photograph is far less important than its composition. Absolutely anything can be photographed well - or poorly." (The Photographic Eye)

Thoughts on Summer's Hybrid

I'd like to talk a little bit about this series.

In many ways, taking these new photos was a pleasure, as it was the very first time I took the initiative to approach downtown area, a total unfamiliar place to me for picture-taking session. The results are quite interesting. There's a mixture of candid, fun-loving moments as the models interacted in carefree mischief with each other, and some angsty moments where I had them posed in the middle of the street full of passer-bys (quite reluctant they were, yes, I know it, they must have hated me then for being so demanding :))

The idea came to my mind when I saw the dynamic between this duo. The two have been friends for almost 10 years, and have been through many things together. The history alone would be worthy of lots of exploration. But with many kinds of relationship in life, there're rhythm and differences between even soulmates. This very existing hybrid is palpable between these two, as I watched them interacting. The comfort level, the understanding, unspoken thoughts, each of them brought something forward. They're very different, but at the same time very much the same. They adjust to meet each other's quirks and oddities, while maintain their very own charms. Ah, the ying and yang of friendship. Don't you just wish everything could be as balance and in perfect harmony? It'd definitely be heaven on earth then, or we just might as well die peacefully as there's nothing to fight for anymore *smiles* (don't take me the wrong way, I can be a rather sadist sometimes, what I meant is the struggles and obstacles are what make living so worthwhile, without them our lives would be so perfect, so it wouldn't matter if we live or die anymore). Anyway, I'm getting off-topic, let me get back on track here. Upon seeing their cobweb of behaviors, I was inspired to add a few shots of them being together but each lost in her own universe. They were in the same plane, but operated on two entirely different wavelengths, yet, when time comes, they're together, smiling at the same old jokes again. They differ synchronically, and match deviantly. Though I realized this a little bit late in the session and couldn't bring myself to express myself clear enough for these two models -sighs-.

Verbalize, Kiana. Verbalize your thoughts. Ah, the difficulty... Ocassionally I wish that at times like this my brain was wired a little bit differently instead of being its complicated long tunnel of thoughts processing. Hopefully, with another opportunity I can further develop this idea and expand on the many more layers of emotions between these two.

Are you guys liking the new layout? I'm loving it! The colors are harmonious, the content area spacious, the overall theme is clean, minimalistic and professional. The theme appears to have little problems so far concerning the codings. Apparently there's a newer version of this theme called "Charcoal 2" and it consists of 3 columns. I like it, but that one has so many bugs it drove me off the wall.

I realized it's been more than a month since my last post introducing the 2012 Calendar I made for my finals, but here it is again, some better views of my favorite months :), including the full cover this time. Also, the poster I showed in the previous entry got changed entirely. The basic concept/structure was there, but the execution was totally new.

Here hoping my inspiration will come back and motivates me more.

Ah, my head is about to burst right now. I finally completed the 12th illustration for this calendar after like what... 2.5 days of wearing my butt off continuously, slaving dutifully away in front of the computer screen. Several times I just wanted to cry, seeing time slipped away and ideas not actualized. I was being ambitious by telling my professor that I wanted to do 12 individual designs for each month, something that I didn't have to, but I am very happy now because I actually finished what I said with no excuses. I did have to holed myself up in my room for several days however. When you have to do 1 illustration after another, it truly messes up your mind. When I started on the 8th illustration, it took me 6 hours or more. I got frustrated tremendously. A lesson learned... give yourself enough time when you're ambitious. If you rush, you will either hurt yourself or your ideas/designs/whatever you're working toward. I actually did have enough time for this, thank God. The actual calendar will be posted when I put all the printed files together. Oh by the way, the theme of this calendar is Illumination. Just a head up if you have a hard time figuring out what all the illustrations are about.

Poster Design 1

I'm in the process of designing posters and video introducing the invention of the incandescent light bulb for my Graphic Design class. So far I came up with this design though I have a few more in mind that shall be simpler. I'm leaning more toward the colors in design A1, though A2 isn't too bad itself. The video is coming along nicely, but it is indeed taking a lot of time because we are required to use either or both Adobe After Effects and Premiere but I knew nothing about either program before taking this class. So yes, it was difficult learning a total new program and have to produce a video at the end. Still, it's going fine and I am having fun learning :). Will try my hardest, aja fighting!!!!

Just tried out manipulating a little photo of mine. Supposedly a self-portrait as you can see. With this one I really had a hard time putting in text or typography. Perhaps, it's just meant to be purely self-portrait with no additional fancy meaningless text. I like it this way, exaggerated in a good way. Currently, my soul is feeling very unsettling and stormy, but I've learned to take things easy. With that said, the best thing I could have ever learned recently is this rediscovery of God and his love for me, as well as my role here. It's a little abstract to explain right now. Hopefully as time goes, I can follow this new calling...

Toy Camera - VistaQuest 1015 Entry, hm...

My brother recently got me a toy camera from Japan called VQ 1015 Entry (thanks so much bro!!) which is a little bit smaller than a credit card, but much thicker of course. And here I'm just testing it out. Not the best because I haven't done much outside shots when the weather is favorable yet, but since it's getting nicer lately I believe either this weekend or the next I might have some new batches. So far, I don't dislike it... I mean, it's just a point-and-shoot toy camera, therefore I'm not expecting much out of it. The hype for this little camera though is that despite its small size and price, it can do a lot. So far, what I have seen is that it can do really well is that its whites always seem to glow, very interesting. And the colors can become quite saturated. However, the viewfinder is totally useless, so I've learned to do without it. Therefore, the images always come out really unexpectedly. That also is the fun of it, as I never know how the shots will look like until I load them into my computer, haha. We'll have to wait and see... hm...

Woah long time no post but again, I've been so busy that I almost forgot about this blog. I just finished my finals last week and already am working seasonal at a bookstore company full-time. The job is pretty demanding and I found myself so overwhelming and frustrating but I'm trying my best to finish off my work at the end of the day but I still have to rely on others to get me through... Oh well but I will elaborate later on what I'm up to at another time.

I also am keeping myself busy making hand-made gifts for friends... Too bad I can't find much time to do these like I did last year. However, I am coming up with some images for a simple calendar/scheduler :D. I'm really really proud of them ^^. Here's a few thumbnails of what I've been working on, I have more but these are just samples until I print them off and bind them together.

I felt very comfortable drawing this one. Possibly because I'm a very detailed drawer who is not used to express my ideas so openly, and the new drawing allows me to be just myself drawing the way I want to. The last one was more of a drawing to 'please' my professor. As much as I hate to admit it, the previous drawing failed short, and all the marks I made weren't genuine. To me, it's so important to be genuine in everything that I do... if I don't, I feel quite a big discomfort. I love textures and patterns and chaos... and this time, I did the same thing but in a much more order manner... and it pleases me so :). The whole drawing is just that: lines, and lots of repeating patterns. It's therapeutic to do that. I got in a trance working on this drawing 4 hrs straight this morning, and didn't feel tired at all! I guess the environment helped too. I was working in a quiet room with the snow drifting outside listening to thunderstorm sound on my Ipod (repeatedly, I only have this one track XD, it relaxes and soothes me so well, plus, it helps me so much to concentrate).

Hello December!!!

Woah, truly I only had one blog post for November? What had I done all last month?
Well, the truth is that really I had been lacking quite a bit as of late, more on the matter of keeping track of this blog. Plus, there was just so much going on last month, with the holiday and parties and such, lol.

I was only able to complete one more drawing for Printmaking. This drawing was done on a much bigger stone (~ 24x30 in) and it took a while to get my ideas settled. Though I'm not sure how much I like this one, it seems like just a poor imitation of my previous one... We will see... I just lost my enjoyment half way through drawing this one, unlike the last one.

And this is my wood sculpture for the second project. I had just completed the third sculpture like two weeks ago, which was a metal project but I was just too lazy to take picture of it. And yes, I know the background behind this sculpture is totally distracting, but again, laziness got in the way XD. I'll see if I could have better pictures taken for my metal sculpture.

Another close friend of mine had her birthday just last week and I thought making an amigurumi would be an ideal gift for her. And guess what, she really liked it, which made it all worthy. I'm getting better at crocheting these little animals as well. I guess the longer you're doing them, the better you will be.

Okay, it could be because I haven't been practicing writing at all for a whole month, but today I feel like every sentence I made sound half-assed. Seriously! I'm not in the mood to talk anyways, so yea... at least, I put some works up finally -__-, I'm happy :).

Uhm, something has gotten into me, guess it was this urge to create these cute characters. I happen to have these Sculpey clays ready since last winter but never once touched them yet. So last night in between study sessions I decided to try doing something out of them, and the results can be viewed above, lol XD.

Lithography nightmare -__-;;

I finally got my 2 drawings for Printmaking printed. And yesterday has got to be one of the most exhausting school days for me ever for I spent freakin' 19 hours in school, working nonstop. Guess how many hours were spent on printing these babies? 13 hours all together :D (though I was printing with another friend, so we did together 20+ prints, and not 10, so that's why it took so long). Uh-huh... talk about the aftermath of procrastination, lol XD. Though to be honest, I didn't procrastinate all that much for Printmaking which is a class I love... but more like lithography is just so time-consuming. I'm glad my instructor really likes the prints, and he proposed that I continue on with lithography in which he thinks I have the potential to go farther, and have mezzotint as a side project. However, I'm just so grateful I got these done. The feeling of accomplishing and completing something is one of the most rewarding feelings ever. I came home at 3:30 am this morning in the cold rain after standing and working for freaking 18 hours straight and my feet just wanted to collapse but I felt totally peaceful. It was just wonderful, wonderful I tell yah.

I call this piece Flow. This is the final print, but I'm not happy with how it turned out... too dark and lots of details were lost T_T.

Now this is the drawing on the stone... See, this is how I want my prints to look like, but my lack of experience really ruined it.

Got one of my drawings for printmaking done today... It was fun, but time consuming like always. What I'm afraid of is how to get it printed as best as possible. Hm... Here's also the process of the drawing, lol. I was bored as you can see :).

One more to go :D!!! And the stone for this next drawing is huge, hahaha... exciting ^o^v...not hahaha. I have an idea, but it's still so fuzzy that's why this time it's gonna be a challenge filling up all the big space. It's not like I have to work at it in such a controlled manner like how I did for the above drawing... but still, there's expressive line work and there's sloppy line works, certainly it's the latter I tend to fall into when I go loose.

I'm sorry for the ugly watermark, but we are living in a time where stealing virtually has gotten so much easier, and even though this drawing is not a pretty one by any mean, I still want to protect what little I have, so yea.

My mind is so troubled, and doing this drawing took away the stress until I could think straight again. I'm about to make some important decision, and I don't want to be rash or immature in this matter *sighs*...

Weird name, I know... :D

That sculpture was a real bitch >___<, a true and sound pain in the ass. Sorry for the foul language, but that one gave me a lot of frustration and took so much of my time. When I first started making it, I guess I wasn't thinking 'sculpture' enough and that must be why I put myself into so many troubles. If I have gone the usual route of making the entire thing out of foam board, that would have made my life so much...easier, you know. But here I have head, arms, and legs all done separately out of foam board, and chicken wire for the middle section, and strings to attach them together, and little eye hooks all around for securing purpose, and plaster and paints and just a whole bunch of stuff. However, I wanted to make this one for myself, so despite all, I must make it the way I wanted it to be... and the final result came really close. So the bottom line is, I'm happy with it, even when I was so frustrated with assembling it :D. The critique is today, and I kind of anticipated that my instructor won't like it as much as I do, because after all, it looks less like a formal sculpture piece, but more like a big vinyl toy... (that was what I was aiming for though, lol, so yay, success!).

The topic is multiples, so I went the literal way: multiple expressions; and if you looked closely you will see there is a little 'ginger-man' like figurine on the inside of the chicken wire, so in another sense, this is about the physical self on the outside, and the ego inside... If that's just too much random ideas together, I might succeed at having 'multiple ideas' for this project, haha XD.

Some other views of the sculpture without the head. I loooooove putting on the texture, it was soo much fun ^^!! The fun thing with this one is that it's totally customizable. The head can be taken off and changed to whatever expression you like. It can be put in a way that it looks like the head is looking up, or straightforward, or down, hihi :). And if you walk around it, you see the changes on the face. I know this is not the most original idea ever, but I had a lot of fun making it so it's all good. I didn't expect it to be a masterpiece, but just something I can be proud of for having it in my room, so yeah, I'm happy with it.

Two other expressions :D. My favorite is the angry one, and least favorite is the happy. For some reason, I think the happy face looks retarded; it looks more like a perverted face to me, lol.

That's all folks. I'm so busy with school now that it's a real miracle I can still write blog XD. I miss this blog a lot though. Wait until I'm done with my two prints for printmaking -_____-; Man, it means I will be working my ass off for this whole week cranking out prints of the highest quality for my talented instructor. His expectations are high I tell you. After all, he's a great and very opinionated printmaker so he won't allow for sloppy stuff. He had made people cry in the past so I'm all prepared for the worst, lol. And the project I'm working in Graphic Design really makes me want to cry here as well. It's hard, it's dry, it's just so...directionless and I have totally no idea what to do T^T. But yea, it's that usual stuff graphic designers are suppose to do: discussing with clients, brainstorming, putting together designer briefs, designing and re-designing and some more re-designing, making sure the designs are innovative and awesome, having more meetings, more presentations, it goes on and on and on and on...... you know the drill. Man, I just have to get that out of my system.

Created this two-page comics (sort-of) for Illustration class... I wish I had more time to work on it. Doing comics took longer than I thought, or perhaps I'm just a slow-worker. This one took me approximately 7 hrs to complete, including sketching and panel-planning time in my sketch book. I hesitated a lot during the first 3 panels, but after I finished the first page, the following page was done pretty quickly.

Uhm, lol, the title of this post can be quite misleading... I was preferring to the actual story of the comic, not like I'll be abandoning this blog or anything ^^. I've been having a tough time to go through recently (duh, as if it's surprising XD, I say that in almost every blog post, lol). But no one cares if I keep on rambling about my life so I'll just keep it at that for now.

The picture above is the image I did on a stone (it is a huge stone, but has a perfect surface to draw on), supposedly a lithograph ^^!! Printmaking is so much fun. I am lucky this semester to be in a small class, totals of only 5 people including myself. Therefore, the instructor (a great instructor and artist, btw :P) gives us all his time and is very patient in making us understand all the processes involved with lithography. My love for Printmaking increases each passing days :). If I discovered this sooner, who knows, I might change my major to become a printmaker myself. The program for Printmaking is really good at my university, as opposed to Graphic Design. Anyways, I'm not going to go there, hihi :). I can't wait to see these going to prints.

My design skills are not improving at all for the past 3 years; on the other hand, they seem to be deteriorating fast!!! It's so alarming >___<; I spent a freaking 1 hour and a half to do an in-class assignment again for my Illustration class today, and the result was horrific -_-; Hic T^T, it's time to hit up on the TutsNetwork Photoshop site. Btw, the graphic above was not done for that class... the one I just did was worse than that.

I sketched up and painted this quickly during my Seminars Illustration class so it's quite sloppy. It looks so different on my monitor comparing to the one in my computer lab, oh well. This is not really a good piece, but for some reason, I could totally see it as a cover for my diary, lol XD... with some Korean words to spice things up, hahah.

*yawn*... gosh I'm so sleepy but I still need to work on my sculpture -___-; been in school for more than 12 hours today, and got through three tedious studio classes. I'm currently designing a wedding album for a friend, and this is my first time so there's a lot of difficulty. These are pretty much just thumbnails for me to see the work without having to open up Photoshop and waiting for the files to load for like 2,3 minutes or more -___- (yea, the pdf file sizes are pretty big, ~600MB for each). The last two/three days I crocheted like crazy, in hope to complete these as gifts before I pack for my trip to Missouri this coming Thursday. So far I'm pretty much done, save for one more, but that one will not be given until 2, 3 months later so I'm not so worried yet ^^.
I'm so glad that the more I crochet, the better I am at it, and now I understood which side I should use as the outside and what should be the inside. I thought they were all the same, but they obviously weren't, hehe. One thing I don't really like about this is that it is just sooo time-consuming, lol. One project could take up the 4, 5 hours or more depending on the difficulty level. Or perhaps I'm just slow, hihi.

I crocheted another coffee cup again. This time it's for a certain kid, lol :P. It reminded me of this morning when I waited for my mom at the airport, I drank quite a lot of coffee since I had to stay up late last night helping her pack some last items and dyed her hair and beautify her, hehe...

Below is a random poster I made... I even had a little of the story written but got lazy a little after that so I quitted. Writing fanfiction is not an easy task, plus I'm just not that into writing. Designing/drawing is fun enough for me ^^v.

I'm currently very fascinated with the quality of bokeh in a photo. The current lens I use mostly for photography is a Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 that came together with my purchase of the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and it does not produce that great quality blurred background even when I up the aperture value and get in close to the subject.
These photos were taken with a zoom lens I bought on a whim the year (last year!?) I started digital photography, Canon EF 75-3oomm 1:4-5.6. Now, I sorta regret that I did not review the lens more thoroughly. This lens takes the photographs alright, coming from me as an amateur still; though I dislike how the view is very narrow (which is approriate of a zoom lens) and this lens does not have Image Stability, so often time my photos came out blurry due to the fact that I don't have a decent tripod to use just yet -___-; It's also very difficult to focus. And to think that I bought this lens for almost $300 back then T^T... What was I thinking?!! Obviously, I was just a rookie, jumping into digital photography right away without reading on the basics or practicing a lot. But I learned my lesson :), so it's all good. I'm thinking of selling this zoom lens since it does not do me a lot of good, and macro photography is not something I'm very fond of either.

Speaking of lens, at the moment I'm eyeing this prime lens Canon EF 50mm f1.4 that is still in the $400 price range on Amazon 0.o; Expensive, isn't it? But I tried out the lens last time I was out shooting with a friend, and the results were great! Since I'm starting to get more serious in photography now, I knew that I just have to purchase some good lens to use in the long run. I figure a good expensive lens is better than 3 or 4 average or bad lens at cheaper price. They add up just the same, and the quality will be significantly different. If only I had the money, hahah... now that is a different matter entirely, where the hell will I get the money, lol. At the moment, I'll just have to make do with my regular lens, it does its job and when it's all too bad, I still have my Photoshop and Lightroom programs to back it up, lol. Time to save and save... no more fun in a while then XD.

Photography aside, I did a little Monokuro Boo amigurumi piggie back in June as a gift for a friend's birthday and forgot to post it up :). I'm working on the black one at the moment too hehe ^^. Cute, isn't she? And yea, I know her snout is crooked, I'm still quite bad with sewing (._.)...

Series: Once upon a time...

These are just some old photographs I took in the past. I did a little touch-up on them by adding color and some sharpness. The quality is pretty bad since these came from scanned film strips. After the images were scanned, I cropped, inverted the colors and processed them in Photoshop. I love how dramatic the sky looked the day I took these photos.

I have more photos to post up but they will have to wait a little bit as I have some ideas in mind as to how to fix them up a little.

Um btw, a little bit of a surprise but I got a 96 on my essay -____-; Yea, it was unbelievable, I mean, lots of surprises happened this summer regarding my grades, haha. Guess since they are summer classes, they are actually easier, lol.

Mom, Dad and the Couch... an untold story

Until, one day when it was raining outside and as I gazed outside the windows... the vision of my dad sleeping struck me... so peaceful, so simplistic, just like my dad. Sunny Bunny!!! Just a practice in Illustrator, I tried to learn more about Illustrator; I still suck evidently >.<... Not much to talk about, it's just that it's getting busy for me :). I signed up for summer classes, and am currently in one right now that is only 3 weeks long; but that also means I have to be in class everyday for 3 hours and exams and stuff come right in the first week. Plus work right after class, apparently. I feel like there will be no fun for me this summer,

This is gonna be just a short post...
Remember the woodcut I showed you a picture of earlier? That woodcut took me forever to complete (stabbed my fingers a few times, old story, hehe), and the final result can be viewed below. It didn't turn out like how I expected of it much, though it was tolerable enough for me to turn it in for the final grade. I did well, the prof. liked it, some people in my class liked it, we had the shortest final critique I'd ever been to: around 20 mins to go over everyone's piece; and guess what, the rest of the time (yea, the remaining one hour and a half) was spent very wisely on... cleaning up, fun stuff ;D. What made me happy was that two of my pieces were collected to go into the permanent collection of the Printmaking Dept. and I was able to sell some prints during the print sale even though it wasn't a lot of money. You know, it has been so long since I last did anything worth mentioning, seriously. I fell so out of touch with art for the last two and a half years in school that I really did not know why I was still hanging on... Probably because I was too afraid to go a different route. I pushed off Printmaking time and time again, only too discover that I really like it. However, I'm not regretting anything, because if I was to take Printmaking earlier, I knew that I still wouldn't have liked it all that much, taking into consideration my attitude about art years ago. The heart does make everything different. I put a lot more heart into these woodcuts and prints than I ever did for any other classes... and it paid off... somewhat. More importantly, printmaking class inspired me to pursue art more seriously. If only (I hate that phrase a lot, but once in a while, I have to use it) I could change my attitude about graphic design... Note to self and goal of this summer: spend every freakin' day designing and doing graphics, even when my stupid brain refuses to cooperate (which it does quite often now whenever I want to design T^T), I HAVE to make myself motivated -______-;; I know I don't have any graphic works posted up... but seriously I didn't make any good ones to show at all. But that will change, or rather, I WILL make it change *furious foams*...

And especially to my very dear lovely mother, I LOVE YOU LOTS AND LOTS <3333 (I know she won't be reading this, but I really just wanted to say that :D). Got something special special for her too, heheh :D... I hope you all have a good mother's day with your moms. Treasure your mothers, for you're extremely lucky to still have her by your side until this day. I thank the Lord everyday for my mom and family and friends. ^ Aren't they cute? I took the picture one morning after driving my mom to work simply because they're so adorable :D.

Above picture features the two drawings I did for my Adv. Drawing class. I'm pleased with the result :). One thing with working independently is that you are free to explore all kinds of ideas, mediums and options, it was very fun. There is a drawback though... if you were less disciplined like me, it'd be hard to get anything done at all, haha... I procrastinated a lot through this, though the final drawings are something that I consider putting into my art portfolio, which I don't do very often. So it's all good I guess ^0^. And I'm hanging these with pieces of thread in the back, something I rarely do also. Once I get the drawings back I'd probably scan or take better pics of them for the portfolio and hang these in my study room ;).

It was a beautiful day, albeit a little bit cold.
I made a joke earlier in the day with be' Heo on this very certain day, said I was going to confess my feelings to the guy that I like.
She said... why not.
I thought... yea, why not.
That thought of confession on April's fool day struck me as convenient.
Either way, it was not gonna hurt as much.
If busted, I could have just covered it up with a line... I was just kidding, did you fall for it?
In the end... I realized it was childish, and stopped.

But I didn't want to bother him after what happened to him before.
Right now, confusing him isn't what I want to do to him at all.

After that day, I stopped obsessing over him.
Opening that little drawer in my heart, I put all the good memories I had with him inside.
Closed it. Secured it. Treasured it. Yet, at the very bottom, far away from view.
It hurt the first few days afterwards. However, I made up my mind.
It's all for the better.
He didn't reject me. I didn't even confess.
But I knew... he doesn't have feelings for me, and that he's still hurt over his last lost love.
One day, his heart will be healed. He will love again.
Will that person be me?
I don't know.
Life is a never-ending mystery.
And I don't even want to find out just yet.
